Vitinha frustrated after PSG’s loss to Dortmund – Get French Football News

Paris Saint-Germain’s Portuguese midfielder Vitinha (24) aired his frustration with his team’s loss to German side Borussia Dortmund in the immediate aftermath of the final whistle at the Parc des Princes.

On a night where the onus was on Luis Enrique’s side to turn the tie around after a disappointing 1-0 loss in the first leg in Germany, the team produced another display that showcased a lack of cutting edge, despite hitting the woodwork four times on the night. The sense of urgency required came far too late for the Parisians, who will have to wait yet another year to attempt to get their hands on the trophy they covet more than any other.

Vitinha the home side’s best player

Despite the agonising loss, the consensus was that the Portuguese midfielder was PSG’s best player over the two legs, but especially in the return. Calm in possession with an impressive passing range and coming agonisingly close to an equaliser that would’ve set up a grandstand finish, the former Porto man’s stock continues to rise, not that that was much consolation in the aftermath of the defeat:

“It’s not easy to speak right now, to analyse this game. We leave the competition with the impression of having given everything, and not much to say. Thank you to the supporters who were incredible, we gave everything and unfortunately it wasn’t enough. It’s the start of a big project, but for now I have nothing much to say”.

For Vitinha and his teammates, they will hope to use this disappointment as fuel to go even deeper in the competition next year.
