PSG’s Marquinhos regrets lack of efficiency in Dortmund loss – Get French Football News

PSG Captain Marquinhos (29) has lamented PSG’s lack of composure in both penalty areas after their second leg loss against Borussia Dortmund at the Parc des Princes.

After a 1-0 first leg loss against the German side, PSG came into the second leg looking to turn the tie around in an electric atmosphere in the French capital, only to repeatedly stumble against a resolute and disciplined Dortmund side. Whilst Luis Enrique’s side can claim to be unlucky after striking the woodwork a staggering four times on the night (and six over the two legs), ultimately they paid the price for a lack of focus and efficiency in both penalty areas, switching off to give Mats Hummels a free header to fire Die Schwarzgelbe into a 2-0 aggregate lead tonight:

“Efficiency is the one thing we lacked. They scored two goals, from a corner and a ball in behind. We had to defend those situations better, those are small details. Through the two legs, there are alot of positive things we can take away. At the beginning, no one believed we would get this far. We have been eliminated in the semi-finals, but it’s a new project with a new coach and alot of changes. There are alot of positive things we can take into next season. We wanted to go to the end for the fans, to take them to Wembley. We can’t let our heads drop even if it’s very tough.”

PSG still have the Coupe de France to play for, the final against Olympique Lyonnais taking place on May 25th at LOSC Lille’s Stade Pierre Mauroy.
