‘It’s flattering’ – Christophe Galtier responds to AC Milan links – Get French Football News

Christophe Galtier, currently the manager of Al-Duhail in Qatar, has admitted that he has held talks with AC Milan regarding the upcoming managerial vacancy at the club.

Galtier moved out to Qatar amidst an uncertain context with a charge of harassment and racism hanging over him. However, the Frenchman has been acquitted of the accusations, which date back to his time as manager of OGC Nice. Currently managing in the Middle East, a return to Europe has been touted and reports in Italy have suggested that his name features on the shortlist at AC Milan.

Stefano Pioli is expected to leave the club at the end of the season. The Italian has notably been linked with the job at Serie A rivals Napoli. Notably, Julen Lopetegui and Lille OSC manager Paulo Fonseca have been linked with the upcoming vacancy, as has Galtier.

The latter has confirmed that he held talks with the Italian club. “It’s very flattering, even if I haven’t spoken with the directors. I thought I saw they had chosen Lopetegui,” he told L’ÉquipeWhilst a return to Europe may be on the cards for Galtier, still under contract at Al-Duhail, it seems a move to the San Siro is not on the cards.
