French Open 2024: Carlos Alcaraz Brushes Aside Injury Speculations With a Wholesome News for Tennis Fans

Carlos Alcaraz can now heave a sigh of relief! As the clay courts of Roland Garros set up to welcome the players, the tennis world was abuzz with concern over the Spaniard’s participation. But those worries are now a thing of the past. A recent update on Alcaraz’s health has finally brought some good news for his fans!

The World No. 3, who was taking some time off due to his right arm injury, will finally be back on Roland Garros! According to reports, he has recovered favorably from muscle edema in the round pronator of his right arm. However, the good news does not end here. The 21-year-old player has already begun his racquet training with the aim of making a massive comeback in the Roland Garros.

The news comes 10 days before the commencement of the French Open. Further reports have also revealed that he will be in Paris by next Wednesday. During his visit, Alcaraz will stay in a hotel next to the Champs-Élysées, a place where Rafael Nadal has previously stayed during his career.

And hopefully, like the Spaniard himself, Alcaraz will also join hands with him to make the comeback that everyone is waiting for. Especially after his back-to-back withdrawals from the tournaments of this season. It all started during his practice session with an injury to his right arm in Monaco during his Miami Open tournament. As the injury prevailed, he withdrew from the Monte Carlo Masters. And it continued in the Barcelona Open as well. However, he was all set to compete in the Madrid Open. But even after a valiant effort, Alcaraz faced a loss in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

However, his discomfort persisted even after that. But nothing wavered his confidence and determination to play in Rome. After the match, he admitted, “I have to keep working to recover my normal forehand without thinking about my forearm. I think that in Rome, I will continue to play with it (an arm sleeve) as a precaution. The balance is positive, but when I go out on court, I don’t want to lose.”  But, his hardship prevailed in Rome as well.

Carlos Alcaraz, who made his debut in Rome last year, had to withdraw from this year’s tournament owing to his persistent injuries. The former Wimbledon champion took to his social media and wrote, “I felt some pain after playing in Madrid, some discomfort in my arm. Today I did some tests and I have a muscle edema in my pronator teres, a consequence of my recent injury. Unfortunately, I will not be able to play in Rome. I need to rest so I can recover and play 100% pain-free.”

However, after taking a short hiatus from playing, Carlos Alcaraz will be back again in his form. He will be back in Roland Garros, where he was defeated by the current world number one, Djokovic, in the semifinals last year. So, the question is: Will he be able to avenge himself this year? Only time will tell.
